The owners of the former Blount Junior High School, located at 113 North C Street, plan to demolish the historic 1937 building at the south end of the complex. The building is apparently in really bad shape and has significant asbestos contamination.

The smaller building on the site, the 1915 J. B. Lockey School, will apparently be spared. The Escambia County School District vacated both structures in 1982.
