North Hill: 1008 Reus Street

Brick streets, flowering crepe myrtle, and porches define a 19th century society on a hill north of the old town of Pensacola. It was a bastion of Pensacola's wealthy and priviledged. In its early days, it provided a haven for those seeking refuge from earthy port activities of downtown merchantilism. By the 1890's, upwardly mobile Pensacolians were building their homes in North Hill. (Source: Pensacola News Journal. "Gentility lives on North HIll". Friday, May 13, 1988.)
