Chipley: Falling Waters State Park

Falling Waters State Recreation Area is a classic example of inland Florida's unique topography. Located in the state's Western Highlands geologic province, this relatively small, 155-acre park is situated atop one of several remnant hills that once constituted a ridgelike connection across the panhandle's northern reaches. The outline of the waterfall is etched in the limestone. However, during a dry spell there is no water flowing over the falls. Bracken fern and mosses grow along the limestone walls of the sink hole.
